First Conversation @ The Crocker!

We’re so excited about the October 11 2022 Conversation at the Crocker coming up as a kick-off to our 2022-2023 season.

You've seen him on Youtube, you might have met him at History is Fun back in the spring: Dr. Josh Goodman is our new enthusiastic Historical Resources manager.
You’ve seen him on Youtube, you might have met him at History is Fun back in the spring: Dr. Josh Goodman is our new enthusiastic Historical Resources manager.

Our speaker will be Dr. Josh Goodman, Sarasota County’s new

historical resources manager, a position that is part of the Libraries and Historical Resources Department. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in history from Florida State University, and earned his Ph.D. in history from Tulane University in New Orleans.

Previously, Goodman served for six years as the archives historian at the State Archives of Florida in Tallahassee, where he managed the digitization of historical records for the award-winning Florida Memory Program.

We blogged in late August about volunteer positions that you can apply for at Historical Resources (AKA “the History Center”) and here’s your chance to learn not just what they are doing now, but what is planned for the future.

Join us on Tuesday evening October 11 at 7pm for a stimulating Conversation, and be sure to bring your questions! Also, that evening would be an ideal time to bring any items you have to contribute to the Ephemera Trunk. Perhaps we can surprise Dr. Goodman with previously-unseen pieces of our history!

Free admission to all Coversations at the Crocker for members, not-yet-members $10. Yes, you can join at the door. Also, if you would like a tour of the Bidwell-Wood House, come at 6pm.

See what else we have planned for members and guests this season on our Events Page.

We'd love to hear what you have to say!
