Falling Back, a time-honored tradition

I am so happy that we DO get to turn our clocks back on Sunday November 1.

Are 2026 clocks falling back this November or not? Here’s what to know

according to USA News:

Americans* will turn their clocks back one hour on Nov. 1 after Congress adjourned without passing legislation that would end the nation’s twice-yearly time change.

Despite pressure from President Donald Trump and growing public support for ending clock changes, lawmakers have yet to send the Sunshine Protection Act to the president’s desk.

For now, federal law remains unchanged, and most Americans should prepare to turn their clocks back one hour on Nov. 1.

This is important to your blog editor because she just loves time-change memes. And besides, who doesn’t love Maxine?**

The Sunshine Protection Act, which would make daylight saving time permanent and eliminate the twice-yearly clock changes, passed the House in July by a 301-117 vote. But the legislation has stalled in the Senate, the final hurdle before it could reach Trump’s desk.

Lawmakers left Washington before taking up the measure, leaving the existing system intact.

Ah, but what’s time for except to enjoy?

Always finding time for things you enjoy means this editor will spend some time reading about the history of Standard and Daylight-Savings Times. It’s all about choo-choo trains.

Does all this bring you ’round to thinking about the Palmer Clock in Five Points Park? It does me.

* The media does like to simplify. “Most Americans” does NOT include the following folks who do their own thing, clock-wise: U.S. Virgin Islands, Hawaii, Most of Arizona (except the Navajo Nation), American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico… and then isn’t there something about some counties in Indiana? Shop, eat, live… and Clock Local!

** Ah, Maxine. Enjoy.

We'd love to hear what you have to say!
