What would Sarasota be like without us?

Imagine Pioneer Park, the site of Hog Creek which #onceuponatime led to Sarasota’s harbor, without the Bidwell-Wood House and the Crocker Memorial Church.

Help the Historical Society of Sarasota County Preserve History

Remember when we raised the funds to move our buildings?

The Historical Society of Sarasota County cares for and is proud to use our two reminders of Sarasota’s picturesque past. And our campus isn’t JUST

picturesque. It matters today, in 2024, and beyond. That’s why we are asking for your help on Giving Challenge 2024.

Light Chasers at the Bidwell-Wood House
Amateurs, professionals, and student artists find inspiration in the grace of our buildings.
Conversations at the Crocker is the most notable of all our educational offerings.
And our gatherings promote friendship and connections between people.

And that’s why we hope you’ll continue your support of HSoSC. During Giving Challenge 2024 which runs Tuesday April 9-10, from noon to noon, your donations between $25-$100 will be matched, dollar-for-dollar, by The Patterson Foundation. Giving Challenge FAQs are here. How we have with your past help, preserved, protected, and presented our local heritage is here. And the page to bookmark for use during the Challenge is here.

  1. Congratulations on all you’ve accomplished!  We’re new to Sarasota and so happy/pleased to find an organization that works to preserve historical buildings!  Thank you! Cheryl Gorelick202-251-2526
