People & Places: Dinner on the Back Porch

Over 40 guests attended Dinner on the Back Porch, our event that welcomed people to the Historical Society for one-on-one tours of the Bidwell-Wood House and the Crocker Memorial Church and on our incomparable Back Porch, a wonderful buffet dinner  provided by Broadway Bar. In honor of W. Hamilton Gillespie

... and some saw men in kilts. Was it their imagination or the ghost of the Ormison Colony? No, just a modern-day Sarasotan honoring the legacy of John Hamilton Gillespie, our first mayor, avid golfer, and, naturally, a Scotsman.

Watch for our next social event… the setting of our buildings is just too pretty to pass up!
