I remember playing “Tarzan” in the ruins of the old hotel with my friends in the 1940s. It was quite overgrown at that time and we would swing from a vine from on perch to another. If I remember correctly, there was an old, one lane, wooden bridge from City Island to Longboat Key and we would wade and swim across the narrow pass rather than worry about a car coming. Wonderful, fun life growing up with such adventures!
