Not everyone can attend our traditional 7pm Conversations at the Crocker, but we don’t want to make it hard to have fun and learn a little with us. So we’ve added “History is Fun!” afternoon events to our educational line-up.
Our premiere event, our “Grand Opening” as it were, of these afternoon events will be Wednesday December 1 2021 at 2pm in the Crocker Memorial Church. It’s entitled “Sarasota: Art Inspired By The Past” and
we are so pleased to have as our special guest, Marlane Wurzbach, the talented portrayist (is that a word?) of so many historical structures in our community. (Not to mention her mouth-watering paintings of fruits and vegetables, and her incredible floral portraits!)
She’ll show us some of her favorite historical building portraits and tell you how she finds, researches, and creates these nostalgic treasures.
These afternoon events are going to be casual and fun looks at our local history.
Audience participation welcome, gifts bestowed, and even a door prize or two.
Get to know each other, learn a fun fact, or make a historic connection that you just never thought about before.
Totally unstuffy, and a nice way to spend an afternoon in the company of like-minded neighbors.
We have three History is Fun events on the schedule for this season (the next two will be Thursday January 6 2022 and Wednesday March 2 2022) and hopefully, this will be so much fun we’ll just continue them ad infinitum.
With your help and participation, I think you’ll want to Save the Date for all 3 afternoons.
Members come free, those who haven’t become members yet are $10. You can join at the door if you’d like to have member pricing for all our events.
See you Weds., Dec. 1 at 2pm in the Crocker Memorial Church!
PS Wear something snazzy so we can grab a few snapshots of this First-Ever History is Fun afternoon event.
PPS The History Book Cart will be in attendance, so stuff a couple of bucks in your pocket in case you find something to buy! And if you have any history books to donate to the cart, Linda will be happy to accept them as you come in.
